The Hungarian baroque ensemble was established by students of the Budapest Liszt Music Academy – who played together and studied baroque performing. The orchestra’s first concert on period instruments was presented in 1986. Since then the Concerto Armonico has rapidly become known throughout Hungary and Europe. The orchestra has appeared at prestigious international festivals as Flanders Festival, Holland Festival, Festival Estival de Paris, Tage Alter Musik Regensburg and Styriarte Graz.
The orchestra’s repertory extends from the early baroque to the late 18th century focuses especially on the music of the Bach sons. The artistic direction of the orchestra is in the hands of Miklós Spányi and Péter Szűts. The orchestra has recorded the complete works of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s keyboard concertos for the Swedish label BIS. From the acclaimed series of the 19 CD’s, 10 discs have already been released and were received with huge success both from the side of the public and experts. |
