| Composers of different historic
eras traditionally used acoustic instruments to
reflect the sounds of the surrounding world. Modern
composers approach sounds and tonality rather as
separate entities. The "terminus technicus"
accepted in the first part of the twentieth
century, that only symmetric vibrations can be
considered musical notes, was set aside and
irregular vibrations, noises have invaded the
compositions. Today, thanks to the more and more
effective computers, the long-time dream of
composers to completely control sounds and create
tones and "new instruments" by themselves, seems to
be achievable.
As a result of sound-synthesis, developed through the experiments of classical musicians and engineers, the synthesizer was born. It gained incredible popularity within a very short time, and still plays a major role in the classical and the pop music of our days. Due to its booming popularity, entire business-lines were built on the instrument and we could witness the birth of new instruments on a daily basis. The new potential generated new sounds and styles, which in turn have a great effect on the modern classical composers. With the Internet, musicians have gained a new communication platform and now artists, living far away from each other, are able to perform together. The main purpose of Music Forum Expo is to introduce a very interesting and exciting musical field: electro-acoustic and computer music by presenting concerts, scientific presentations and informative exhibitions. |
